We've been on speaking terms for decades. I'm grateful to have illustrated a couple of your APAzines in times past and glad to still count you among my friends, and may you have more and happier birthdays to come!

It's been good to have company in map nerdery!

Because it's his birthday too today. And his achievements are at least as reliably documented, and his work has also been continued to this day.

AKA Max Douglas, Canadian indy comics-maker of note and substance, and teacher of the comics-making arts as well!

Long may your drafting table and computer workstation prosper by your works thereat!

1. The 57th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, given thereat.

2. The 103rd anniversary of the birth in New York City of Jacob Kurtzberg, best known today as Jack "King" Kirby, comic book artist of legend, co-creator of Captain America, and of so many more afterwards.

Both, I think, are worthy of remembrance in their own ways. Both Dr. King and Mr. Kirby were, in their respective ways, anti-fascist to their respective cores.

Hoping that today's being kind to you, Diane! You and petermorwood take good care, okay?

I think we've known each other as fellow comics and SF fen since a couple of years after I moved to Ottawa, although I knew of for a few years before that from the letter columns of comic books I'd read and enjoyed.
