I used this info the other day for some people up in the North Fork area: they had a "Standby to evacuate" order that made no sense to them as the Creek Fire was 30 some odd miles to the east. Looking at the topo let me see the canyons that could be potential travel paths. Looking at where the dozer lines were planned showed me the fire bosses weren't trying for a close stop (impossible for this scenario) but were going to try for blocks many miles back from the progression. So yeah, it could make a run up those canyons because the fire could move more quickly than humans could put their chess pieces in place.
