Can anyone here point me to a good photoreference resource(or more than one) on Cleveland? Yes, it's Local Hero-related.

Thank you in advance for any and all help!

What specifically do you need? I'm actually in Cleveland, if that helps.

Not exactly sure at the moment. I've been digging mostly for pix of "landmark" buildings so far, stuff I can use to "set up" in the background of an establishing shot to visually say "this happened here. I'm open to suggestions.

The research I've been doing so far suggests a few more visual gems present in the downtown and near-downtown than an outsider might be inclined to believe. Take that new Federal Courthouse Building for one...

That's a pretty cool building, for sure. Another good downtown visual is the Soldiers and Sailors Monument at Public Square, right across from Terminal Tower, also called Tower City Center (actually, a local would just say "Tower City"), which houses offices, a shopping mall, and the hub of our rapid transit train system. Also, don't forget the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Browns Stadium, Jacobs Field - oops, sorry, Progressive Field (I still can't make the mental switch on that one). If you need a cool indoor setting for anything, the Arcade is a good one. I'm currently writing a story (it will probably come in around novella length, knowing me) that is set in downtown Cleveland and both the Monument and the Arcade figure prominently in it.

Oh, and just for fun: The Free Stamp (an outdoor sculpture that's well-known around here)

The Fountain of Eternal Life on Mall B

The Flats, our iconic industrial district turned entertainment district, now being partially morphed into upscale housing: Google Images collection. Views of the bridges leading across the Cuyahoga with Terminal Tower visible in the background pretty much say "Cleveland" right out loud, for example.

If you want any current photos of specific spots from specific angles, I've got a nifty digital camera and I'm not afraid to use it. ;-)

For all of those links you posted.

Only one problem: the Google Images collection you tried to connect me to doesn't link up right(yet).

Happy to help. Did you get the Google Images collection to load yet? If not, you might try just inputting "Cleveland" + "flats" to the site and see what it sends you.

As to specific locations...would you know or have an educated guess as to which neighbourhoods might have alleyways that give you a view to the towers of downtown? Not asking you to take the camera there, just wondering if you know of them. I've noticed that alleyways themselves seem to be on their way to endangered species status, perhaps as much to their use as settings for wrongdoing in fiction as to any actual wrongdoing that's ever been done there...

Hmmmm... alleyways with views to the city core and the towers... the first one that comes to mind would be the Tremont area, or the near west side around W. 25th street in a neighborhood called Ohio City. I'm not finding a lot of photos online of Tremont, but I've no problem scouting and taking a few - in either area - if you want. Both Tremont and Ohio City are about ten minutes or so from where I live, and sit between my neighborhood and downtown.

I go to both with some regularity anyway, because they both have interesting little bars that I like.
