Oct. 16th, 2021 11:59 amI'd forgotten that Sequential was putting on a symposium on Canadian comic books this weekend, and all of this before the Aurora Awards tonight at 7 PM.

FANDOM: Aurora Awards
Sep. 14th, 2019 09:19 pmI'm trying to remember the last time I voted in those awards at all. Coming up blank, and that negligence falls upon my karma - what there is of it - considering I was once a co-nominee for co-editing the Ottawa SF Society Statement what seems like a couple of decades ago. (It was a particularly chaotic couple of years, if memory serves at all.)
But it finally got done before deadline today this year.
And we'll find out who's won at Can-Con next month.

Oct. 14th, 2018 09:29 pm...Can-Con 2018 was good. Managed to get some time with a bunch of old friends and friendly acquaintances and learned a lot during the weekend, from immigration law to electronic warfare to climate derangement to books published outside North America.
Have pre-registered for next year's edition, which will be hosting the Aurora Awards as well. Just so you know.

Can we get a deal between Hayden Taylor and Pocket Books re: Trek novels?

If you want to see where I was last night, there's some pix I took of the event under discussion, taken at Library and Archives Canada's main building on Wellington. Some old friends of mine were there in different roles, and some new friends stood to be acquired. Also, the book in question is worth the money.

Done with CAN-CON for another year. Enjoyed seven different panels, touched base with a few dozen friends and friendly acquaintances again, learned stuff, had fun, overate a little...and still have not learned the Art of Making Paper Airplanes.

I don't believe I qualify for any of those at this time, but I will note that, last year, the fan achievement award went unawarded due to insufficient numbers of nominees. If you know someone whom you believe worthy of it, please go nominate them for it. If you want/need my help with that, let me know and we'll see if we can't figure out a way for me to help.
