The talks to start building that infrastructure HAD to have begun at Stark's funeral. Potts, Hogan, Fury, Hill, T'Challa, Okoye, Shuri, Danvers, Quill (okay, maybe not Quill), Strange, Secretary Ross...

Am I wrong?

We're not seeing much of that in WandaVision or Falcon/Winter Soldier but we do seem to be seeing it in Spider-Man: Far From Home...

It now occurs to me that Tony Stark is playing technological catchup with both Krakoa and the Eternals.

Just pointing this tweet out. Your amusement value may vary here.

Remembering Everhart's line of questioning in the first Iron Man movie...

Okay...so I found these over the last few weeks:

Arame - per Avengers and Iron Man 3

Stratum 1 - per Avengers and Winter Soldier

You might be interested for design purposes, assuming that I've finally identified them correctly.

Some linkages of interest, which I thank [livejournal.com profile] james_nicoll for pointing out and prompting others to point out in the course of the conversation he triggered:

Steven Attewell: Steve Rogers Isn’t Just Any Hero

The Infamous Brad: It Would Be Remarkable if Steve Rogers and Tony Stark Did Get Along

Mightygodking.com: Things I’d Like To Write Someday, #247654932

Considering that we're halfway between Avengers and Winter Soldier, it seems like a good time to put linkages to these three opinions on the same page and let everyone who cares to do so cut loose with their own POVs. Which of these works for you, which doesn't and either way, why?

This is where the urbanist and the comics nerd present in many of us may well collide with consequences as yet undecided.

Wondering if any of you had seen this item yet:

http://io9.com/5362912/the-city-is-a-battlesuit-for-surviving-the-future

It's about four years old as this entry is written, and it seems to have inspired Kieron Gillen's next Iron Man comics story arc, "Iron Metropolitan":

http://gillen.cream.org/wordpress_html/5570/iron-metropolitan/

Right now, I'm trading e-mails back and forth with Kieron on the subject. Would it be a safe guess to say that many of us would consider any city we lived in becoming like Mega-City One from Judge Dredd or Transmetropolitan's City a failure mode?

I'd announced a Friday trip to see Iron Man 3 in normal, 2-D format on the Ottawa SF Society's meetup.com page. The only thing I thought I needed to worry about was which theatre for us to meet at.

Either the movie theatre chains or Disney-Marvel - perhaps both, as I am not privy to the details - may have pre-empted my plans and forced me to wait for the DVD.

I'm not seeing any times for this upcoming Friday night at any Ottawa movie theatre via ottawakiosk.com as of this morning.

...before I rejoin the ranks of the un(der)employed again.

Yes, again.

It's become somewhat damaging to what peace of mind there is in this skull of mine, never mind the financials over the years. But it seems that a great many of us across the planet are still Expected to bear such burdens as part of the Price of Employability.

Pfah.

Anyway, the weekend was good in several senses: educational, entertaining, with a fair bit of travelling involved. Three Jane's Walk-affiliated tours of as many neighbourhoods: ByWard Market, Old Ottawa South and New Edinburgh. Roughly 350 photos of varying levels of quality taken in the course of those, from which I hope to cull a sufficient number to be of help on Flickr and possibly to a couple of publications as well. We'll see how that goes over the course of the next week.

The resumption of allergic reactions made enjoying the walking tours a bit more difficult than would have been preferred. But it should be over and done in a couple of additional weeks, if everything sticks to established patterns.

Speaking of travel plans: over on meetup.com, I've got movie dates set for the Ottawa SF Society re: Iron Man 3 (this upcoming Friday) and Star Trek 12 (two Fridays thereafter). Hoping to lock in a 2D-format showing as close to 7 PM as humanly possible, and keeping an eye on both the Silver City Gloucester and World Exchange Empire theatre complexes to that end. The meetup.com dates are officially set for Silver City, but that's subject to amendment.

More as it comes to mind...

There's a linkage theme connecting these sites: graphic design, particularly for infographics and user interfaces.

These four links contain a lot of stuff that I wish had been included in The Art of the Avengers. Not sure how it didn't happen, but the fact that it's available to look at via these URLs is a good thing.

Got this link from [livejournal.com profile] coudal: the evolution of a widget in Iron Man's armor "HUDware" for use in The Avengers.

This is one of those things that got left out of the Art of the Avengers coffee-table book, along with the console art for the Helicarrier sets. Stuff that I'd have liked to see more addressed - you can blame this attitude on my being an Okudagram fanboy! - but they didn't have the page space or the page count for.

At least, we have the article on the web. Anything else along these lines I'm missing?

That's what the whole theme of the movie feels like to me seven hours after I left the theatre.

"No one goes anywhere alone."

I don't remember where I read it or heard it. But it fits.

I read this off of the Newsarama blog re: the next Iron Man movies. Yes, the plural was intended.

It looks to me as if Favreau and company are on a good, solid track for their planned hat trick. I look forward to enjoying the consequences of his choices.

I went to see Iron Man yesterday, as noted. It was worth the nine loons and two hours' viewing time.

I might just take in that new Hulk movie...

Oh, one more thing: that NCF Mail server issue I mentioned last entry? Solved. My normal e-mail address is up and running again.
