I watched Justin Trudeau's speech via YouTube and skipped the Vulgarian's speech. Seems to have been wise regarding my mental health.

And there's concerns about the Rich, Sociopathic and Militant...

And this was the front page of the Globe and Mail today:

Simple, right?

Trying to shop for a 4XL winter jacket for myself without travelling too far out of my neighbourhood. My current jacket is about 10 years old, and the design works for my brain. Trouble is that retailers have their own ideas about what I should be able to buy these days.
No buttons in front, zippered pockets...these are features to my brain, not design errors.

Looking for recommendations, not financial support.

A bit of a follow-up to the previous posting, since I'm listening to this as I work this afternoon:

Group therapy night, followed by some map-making.

Helpful.

Easter weekend coming up, and lots to do, I suspect.

I've decided, for my birthday, to launch a fundraiser for the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County via Facebook.

How slow a pace of donations should I expect?

Well, it wasn't a deputation. That's apparently not until next month, which is going to...not complicate at least one other appointment at the end of November. I am going to have to deal with lost income for however long I have to be ready to deliver it on that day, I think.

What did happen was further training, as well as face time directly with three city councillors. Leiper, Troster and Devine. Also, contact with some of the staffers of other members of city council.

Focus is still on mental health, poverty reduction and housing, because the city budget-building for 2024 is underway, and the staff's under direction to keep the rate increase to 2.5 %.

What I could have felt better about? More than a half-dozen of the 50 attendees masking up, for one. Seeing working air purifiers in the room for another. Neither of those things happened, though, so...

...to advocate for extra municipal funding for mental health support programmes this morning. I've printed out three drafts of my "deputation" - city hall slang for a speech expected to last no more than five minutes - and am not sure that I'm properly set up for this.

I am, of course, terrified of being reinfected by COVID-19 by way of public transit. Not that I have any realistic alternatives to that to resort to right now for various reasons and excuses.

I haven't visited the downtown core of Ottawa-Gatineau in over a year. There have surely been additional changes to the neighbourhood that I don't know to expect.

There's about twenty different people that it feels like I should be sending e-mails to this morning before work starts, and I can't decide who to write to first.

My brain is not great right now.

My understanding from CharityVillage.com is that January is exactly that month, among other things.

The disease itself may well be renamed for reasons of atrocity on the part of the namesake. That said, the research into preventing, treating, curing this particular form of dementia if and however possible continues.

I'm going out for a job-search-related appointment this morning, to visit a part of the city I haven't been to in about half a year. By public transit. Which many if not most people now use while unmasked.

At least a half-hour to get there once I'm on the bus, another coming back. I expect to do shopping on the way. Not sure how long the appointment itself will be. I've dealt with this non-profit agency before. It's going to be someone new to me this time, as the two people I've regularly dealt with for years pre-Pandemic have moved on to other things within the organization or retired from it.

I am going to need to seriously cocoon for a few hours when I get back from this.

Some of us already knew this to varying degrees. That a deficit of empathy has traditionally been condoned as "fitness to (govern/rule)" continues to wear at so many of us.

I wonder how we might look at the members of the "new fascist international" through this neurological or neuro-biological lens.

I used to follow the Connecting Comic Book Writers and Artists group on Facebook.

Tonight, I pulled the plug on that. I don't need that self-inflicted pain anymore. It was just one more thing.

There's going to be more "just one more thing" stuff.

I did two things tonight for my mental health: I blocked Musk and pre-emptively reported Trump for spamming before blocking him.

I'm still looking at job leads, even as I've tentatively accepted a new data entry contract. I can't afford to ignore bad luck, not yet.

The weather today is not doing my brain health any favours right now: lots of rain, dark grey clouds lower to the ground. People I know who live with fibromyalgia are certainly being affected in their own ways right now.

More as it occurs to me.
dewline: Virus Don't Care (pandemic)
What worries me is that there are people in politics around the world right now who are going to see this as a positive consequence of COVID-19, and that seeking such consequences for the brain-gifted will be an unspoken motive for seeking to end the Pandemic safety protocols.

Design Twitter put me onto this article about some of the perils of UX design while I wait for something else tonight to start. Seeing as it's something I'm recreationally dabbling in alongside mapmaking, comic book art, and so much else...with a vague, ill-formed hope of turning one or more of these hobbies into (part of) a viable income fit to live on...I need to pay attention.
